The freshman football team is seen through the window of a structure on the old stadium at CHS leaving the field after practice was cut short due to lightning on Aug. 22. The freshman football team and the cross country team still practice at the stadium on the Carterville High School campus. Todd Rogers, the vice principal and athletic director at CHS, said one of the main reasons for the new athletic facilities near Tri-C Elementary School was because of the condition of the track, which he said had been deemed unusable for hosting high school track and field meets. - Dan Celvi
