Christian Vojvodich, left, 13, of Herrin, and his step sister Lindsay Cole, right, 10, also of Herrin, spend some time outside near what residents call the 14th St. ditch on Sept. 16 after heavy storms, fall off from hurricanes in the rest of the country, swept through the region just days before. Vojvodich and Cole said their parent's house didn't incur any major damage, but school for both had been cancelled on Monday Sept. 21, due to power still being out at the school at that time. With Monday classes cancelled, Vovjodich and Cole said they now had a 3 day school week, as class had already been cancelled on Friday for unrelated reasons.
